Do your patients work outdoors? Are they builders, police or taxi drivers? Or, do they spend the majority of their time indoors–working, reading, watching TV or using the computer? No two patients have the same prescription and visual needs, or use their eyewear in exactly the same way. This simple fact, plus the number of lens designs, materials and coating options available, makes it essential to find out as much as you can about how your patients use their eyewear. Lifestyle dispensing lets you prescribe or dispense eyewear that satisfies your patients’ unique visual needs. |

Seiko Optical Products is proud to offer the very latest in the free-form digital surfacing revolution, with Perfas 100% back-surface progressive addition lenses. Perfas lenses represent the cutting edge of digitally surfaced free-form progressive lenses, utilizing patented 100% back-surface technology. This advanced technology provides a visual experience that is simply unmatched by conventional progressive lenses. All the elements of the progressive prescription—sphere, cylinder, axis, add power and prism—are placed on the back surface of the lens, customizing every Rx to the patient’s exact visual requirements. This means that for each sphere, cylinder, axis, add power and prism, the patient receives a truly customized lens with an exact near, intermediate and distance Rx. |
Placing 100% of the prescription on the back surface provides features and benefits that cannot be realized by conventional PAL designs. The perfect spherical convex surface on Perfas eliminates all the front surface distortion found in conventional PAL lenses. This “swim & sway” distortion is caused by the significant changes in front-surface curvature and optical magnification among the visual zones, and is a primary reason for non-adapts. The Perfas back-surface design also expands all the visual fields. Similar to looking through an old door lock, the closer your eye gets to the key hole, the more of the next room you can see. This principle gives Perfas lenses distance, intermediate and reading zones that are much wider than conventional progressive lens designs. A wide range of treatment and coating options are also available. These include Transitions® for healthy sight in every light, polarized glare-reducing sun wear, and our own Surpass® ECP Super hydro AR, providing sharper vision, better night driving and improved cosmetics.

Perfas PrimePerfas Prime is the perfect choice for value conscious and new PAL wearers because its super soft design works well for general everyday life activities. It complements both indoor and outdoor lifestyles. It is especially well tolerated by patients who have difficulty adapting to conventional PALs. Perfas Prime lenses provide all the advantages of back-surface design, including the elimination of front-curve distortion and wider visual zones. Prime offers balanced, stable vision, maximum control of off-center astigmatism and power error, with wide clear zones for reading, intermediate and distance. It is recommended for prescriptions with low-to medium add powers (up to +2.00 diopters). Perfas Prime is available in 3 corridor lengths (12/14/16mm), with a minimum fitting height of 16mm. |

Perfas PremierPerfas Premier uses an advanced blended soft design best suited for sensitive PAL wearers and difficult prescriptions with medium add powers (up to +2.50 diopters). The visual fields of Perfas Premier lenses are expanded up to 30% over conventional progressive lens designs. The design incorporates measured power in the intermediate and near zones. Measured power, based on Retina Forward® design, is a unique technology that adjusts the surface power of the lens for optimum performance in the as-worn position. Measured power reduces astigmatism and power error caused by variations in pantoscopic tilt and vertex distance due to eye rotation. Perfas Premier lenses are available in 3 corridor lengths (10/12/14mm), with a minimum fitting height of 14mm. m fitting height of 16mm. Perfas Premier WidePerfas Premier Wide lenses have an advanced hard design and feature reading zones that are 20% wider than Premier. The lens is best for seasoned wearers with medium to high add powers (+2.00 and above). It offers the widest reading area possible for those who do a lot of close/near occupational work, as well as a usable intermediate and wide stable distance vision. As with Premier lenses, Premier Wide incorporates measured power in the intermediate and near zones to ensure the best optical performance in the as-worn position. Premier Wide is ideal for smaller frames and frames with narrow “B” measurements. It is available in 3 corridor lengths (10/12/14mm), with a minimum fitting height of 14mm. |

New Perfas Prestige II is our most advanced progressive lens design. It is the first Perfas lens design to utilize newly patented free-form technology, and is the ideal choice for prescriptions with high spheres, cylinder and add powers.

The new technology (patent 7,341,344) is able to process complex convex curves onto the concave back surface of the lens. This advanced design results in lenses that are up to 25% flatter than comparable back surface PAL lenses. Prestige II lenses are cosmetically more appealing with better vision throughout the lens.
Variable InsetPrestige II lenses achieves the best point focus for near vision optics by calculating the precise reading zone inset based on the specific patient PD and distance Rx. This provides a wide comfortable reading area, even in high-power prescriptions. Measured PowerPrestige II design also incorporates measured power throughout the entire lens (distance, intermediate and near) for total control of off-center astigmatism and power error. Measured power factors in eye rotation, vertex distance and frame tilt and modifies the power to provide the optically-precise power for the as-worn position. The wearer experiences increased visual comfort with wider areas of stable vision.

Control of Unwanted CylinderPrestige II uses oblique astigmatic correction to manage unwanted cylinder in all meridians, reducing marginal astigmatism. This creates a balanced progressive design that increases wearer comfort by reducing the need for head movements. It provides proper eye to lens alignment in all directions, significantly improving panoramic vision and image stability, especially in prescriptions with high cylinder. Extended Range and OptionsPrestige II product range is from +6.50 to -12.50, out to a -5.00 cylinder. They are available in premium materials including 1.74 clear, 1.67 clear, polarized and Transitions VI, 1.60 clear and Transitions VI, and Trivex® clear and Transitions VI. Transitions XTRActive™ lenses are also available in 1.67 and Trivex lenses. Perfas Prestige II lenses are available in 3 corridor lengths (10/12/14mm), with a minimum fitting height of 14mm. |

Seiko Optical Products introduces new Pentax UltraThin Pristine, advanced free-form technology in a 1.67 high index double-sided aspheric single-vision lens.
UltraThin Pristine lenses are produced utilizing state-of-the-art free-form equipment and processed to unparalleled levels of optical performance, thickness, lightness and comfort. UltraThin Pristine’s double aspheric design creates a thinner and lighter lens, with flatter curves on both sides.
UltraThin Pristine uses a unique combination of low base curve and free-form aspheric design to reduce and compensate for distortion, power error and astigmatic aberration in a balanced manner. Exceptional visual clarity is provided throughout the entire lens, with a significant improvement in the peripheral viewing area of the lens, even in prescriptions with high power and cylinder.
The aspheric front surface of the lens provides standard aspheric compensation. The design includes a unique 10mm spherical fitting button in the center of the lens for instant patient accommodation.
Precise secondary aspheric/atoric compensation is provided for each individual prescription by the free-form aspheric back surface curves. The result is expanded vision throughout the entire lens.
UltraThin Pristine is available from +6.00 to -10.00, out to a -5.00 cylinder (total power of -10.00 diopters), with up to 3 diopters of prism.

In a spherical lens, distortion is present in both S and C directions. Power errors are increased in each direction in the peripheral areas of the lens . The effective viewing area is therefore considerably limited. |
In aspheric lens design, distortion in the S direction is improved but still appears in the C direction. Effective viewing area is increased in the S direction but remains constrained in the C direction. |
UltraThin Pristine eliminates distortion in both S and C directions. Power error and marginal astigmatism in the peripheral areas of the lens are optimized in both the S and C directions resulting in a substantial improvement in the effective viewing area. |
